Most door damage doesn’t require a new door. A split jamb, a rotted threshold corner, a cracked panel, or a torn-out latch area can all be repaired with the right materials and technique. Common Door Damage & Rot Scenarios
Break-in and forced entry damage Split jambs, torn-out strike plates, and splintered latch areas. We rebuild the wood, reinforce with a strike box or security plate, and rehang the door so it closes correctly. Insurance-claim documentation provided on request.
Cracks and holes in wooden doors Patched, sanded, and finished to match the existing surface. For hollow-core damage, we evaluate whether repair makes sense versus slab replacement.
Rotted door jambs North Texas storms drive rain sideways into door jambs, especially on south and west-facing exposures. Rot starts at the bottom of the jamb and moves up. We cut out the rotted section, splice in new material, and seal it against further water entry.
Sill pan flashing and sub-sill repair When we lift a threshold, we frequently find soft wood or water staining underneath. The sub-sill is the structural piece below the threshold, and it’s the layer most homeowners and most handymen never inspect. We repair or replace the sub-sill, install proper flashing, and reset the threshold over a dry, sound base.
Threshold and side jamb bottom repair The lower few inches of the side jambs absorb the most moisture. We cut back to good wood, splice in pressure-treated or PVC material where appropriate, and finish to blend with the existing trim.
